Platteville gave us a warm welcome for our 58th Walk with Walker despite the weather. Intrepid folks that they are, everyone wore rain suits and brought umbrellas as we gathered at the Platteville Chamber of Commerce office. After a quick photo we began the walk.

What a great way to start Walk with Walker in 2017! We had a wonderful time in Port Washington, taking in historic sites, commemorating our veterans, and even had a special guest – my husband, Scott, the Governor of the State of Wisconsin! Port Washington has so much to offer tourists, especially in the warm summer months right off the cost of beautiful Lake Michigan.

Despite the wet weather, the fall colors in St. Germain were absolutely gorgeous for our last walk of 2016. St. Germain is an excellent tourist destination in Wisconsin anytime of year, and I am so glad I had the chance to visit. I want to thank Penny Wiesmann from the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce and Cindy Burzinski from Vilas County Tourism for all the work they did to make my stay so special!

What a way to celebrate the 53rd Walk! Beloit certainly rolled out the red carpet for us, everything was absolutely wonderful. Big thanks to Secretary Stephanie Klett for making her hometown the best walk yet!
When I arrived at Beckman Mill, I was impressed with its charm and natural beauty. I was greeted by over 70 eager participants, all ready to enjoy the warm summer day. I had a chance to visit with so many local folks; it was great meeting so many people. Secretary Klett welcomed everyone to Beloit, and we were ready to get started.

I was greeted by so many friendly faces upon my arrival to the Osthoff Resort. The Osthoff sits quaintly on the shore of Elkhart Lake, surrounded by the beautiful woods of Kettle Moraine. We met Lola Roeh, general manager of The Osthoff, who gave us a wonderful tour, teaching us the deep history of the Resort. Can you believe that the original Osthoff Resort opened its doors in 1886?

Looking back to our very first walk in High Cliff State Park back in June of 2011, it is hard to believe we have traveled to 50 different beautiful locations all across the state. I am so grateful to everyone who has made this possible, and all of those who have attended each of the walks along the way!
The evening before the walk, we had a delicious dinner at Casey’s BBQ & Smokehouse in Egg Harbor with the Governor’s Council on Tourism and other members of the Door County Visitor’s Bureau staff. We enjoyed a beautiful evening and a gorgeous sunset overlooking the bay. It was a wonderful way to start this milestone event!

I can hardly believe it! Walk number 48 is marked in the records, and it was a great one! Since we were so far north in Superior, we expected this to be a chilly walk! But, the sun came out and treated us to a beautiful day for a walk through the Superior Municipal Forest!

What a beautiful fall day! When we arrived at the Ice Age Center in Interstate Park, I was lucky enough to be greeted by five beautiful young ladies, all members of the Miss St. Croix Falls Program. From 2nd grade to Juniors in high school, having Sophie, Adrienne, Shannon, Naveah and Madi’s company was a real treat. I was so impressed they walked with us the entire time—even with their crowns on!
