  • Kewaskum hospitality on Mauthe Lake

We could not have had a better fall day this past Saturday in the Kewaskum area! It was an absolutely gorgeous 50-degrees and sunny for our 2-mile walk along the Tamarack Trail on beautiful Mauthe Lake.  The trail is located just outside of Campbellsport, and is part of the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest.

  • Fall is here!

We were greeted in the Chippewa Valley by a beautiful, blustery fall day! The wind was blowing and we could feel the bite of winter just barely starting to set in, but it was great to be out and about, enjoying the beauty of fall in Wisconsin.

  • Guest entry by Eagle Police Chief

I mentioned Russ in the last blog post -- take a look at his story in his own words!

The Walk with Walker event last Friday at Old World Wisconsin was a tremendous success and a blessing to our community, and me personally.

  • A stroll back in time

This morning Walk with Walker took a different approach and was hosted by Old World Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Historical Society for an educational stroll back through the 19th century! I’ve been to Old World Wisconsin a few times on my boys’ school trips as a room parent, and I have to say, I think I enjoyed it just as much as they did when they were in fourth grade!

  • Spreading our wings on the trail

My walk in Eagle River was absolutely great! We gathered at the northern trailhead of the Three Eagle Trail and walked 2 beautiful miles of the 8.5-mile trail. The Three Eagle Trail is privately owned and managed by a non-profit organization, and grants free public access for walkers, runners, and bikers to enjoy the naturally preserved woodlands of the area.

  • We beat the heat in Cable!

When I started Walk with Walker, I knew I wanted to get up north during the summer months so it wouldn’t be too cold for a walk. Well I sure got what I was hoping for!

Around seventy-five walkers and I braved the 90-something-degree heat today to enjoy an absolutely fabulous trail in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest near Cable, Wisconsin. We had plenty of water and shade, and successfully completed a 1.1-mile loop on the Forest Lodge Nature Trail.

  • A successful first walk at High Cliff!

We had a fabulous time on Saturday at High Cliff State Park! We hiked the 1.5 mile Forest Management trail at a leisurely pace, and were privileged to be guided by the park Superintendent, Carolyn Morgen. She did a wonderful job showing the difference between managed and unmanaged woodlots, and explaining the benefits of managing your own woodlot!
