Wisconsin’s first lady, Tonette Walker, presented the first in a monthly series of awards recently, designed to recognize the heroic and voluntary efforts of Wisconsin citizens to make the state a better place.
“Throughout the state, countless individuals are eager to go the extra mile, take a stand for causes in which they believe, and use their time, effort and ideas to make Wisconsin a better place,” said Mrs. Walker. “They don’t volunteer for the praise, but I want to recognize them as a way to say thank you for their selfless and generous acts.”
Recognition will be given each month to one outstanding Wisconsin resident. The first lady will visit the winner and present a Wisconsin Heroes Award to thank the recipient for his or her willingness, compassion, and commitment to the betterment of the state.
