Wisconsin's first lady, Tonette Walker, presented an award Wednesday night to honor Sam Scifio, longtime Milwaukee Auxiliary Police Officer.
Sam is beginning his 53rd year of volunteer service with the City of Milwaukee as an Auxiliary Police Officer.
While wearing his auxiliary uniform he helps in numerous ways such as collecting food and toys for less fortunate family during the holidays, assisting with traffic/crowd control at parades and festivals attending crime and safety meetings, and helping at police officer graduations. Also, he is an active member in his Veterans of Foreign Wars post and is always there to lend a helping hand to his fellow veterans.
For his countless volunteer hours and longevity of service to The Milwaukee Police Department he was presented with the September 2013 Wisconsin Heroes Award.
Recognition is given each month to one outstanding Wisconsin resident. The first lady visits and presents a Wisconsin Heroes Award to thank the recipient for his or her willingness, compassion, and commitment to the betterment of the state.
